Community Class - Power Vinyasa

This class is taught by:

Eliza Whiteman

Eliza is the co-founder and director at FlyDog Yoga. She is a Tier 2 / 500-hr Baptiste Power Vinyasa Teacher. Eliza is the lead teacher for FDY's Power Vinyasa Teacher Training and she also has certifications in Aerial Yoga, Yoga & Weights, Prenatal Yoga and Children's Yoga.

You should expect a creative, fun, athletic style that will get your blood flowing and make you sweat but at the same time tap into your potential- get inspired, be empowered and have fun! Every body is welcome, you can always modify poses and flows to fit you.
Yoga is not about perfection- it is about progress.

Patrick Gibson

In over eight years of practice, Patrick has gone from once-a-week asana dabbler to yoga devotee. Yoga is the pillar that supports some of the other joys in his life: being a loving husband, active father and creating hand-made ceramics. Patrick has studied with local teachers such at Eliza Whiteman, MaryAnn McIvor, Jen Fleisher, and Kevin Warren, each of whom has ignited his desire to improve his personal practice and inspired him to share his love of yoga by becoming a certified teacher. Patrick completed FlyDog Yoga’s 200-hour Vinyasa Teacher Training in August of 2015.
Patrick teaches an energetic Vinyasa flow, set to great music and designed to activate and open the entire body, with special emphasis on breath and alignment. We sweat together, laugh together, and share in each other’s successes. Show up, work hard and you will never be the same again.

Courtney Newman

Courtney graduated from FlyDog Yoga 200-Hour Vinyasa Teacher Training in July of 2016.

Ashley Rydeen

Ashley Rydeen was first introduced to yoga by her sister 2 years ago and quickly fell in love with the practice. She was drawn to the mindful, healing spirit of yoga while always maintaining a "Let's play!" attitude. She graduated from from FlyDog Yoga's 200 hour Power Vinyasa Program in 2017 studying under Eliza Whiteman and MaryAnn McIvor. Her flows encourage students to focus on cultivating strength, stability and balance while bringing awareness to the breath and alignment. During Ashley's class, you will be led and supported through fun, creative flows often incorporating arm balances or inversions and will be encouraged to play and explore your practice and your potential for growth.

Jennifer Rose

Jennifer has been practicing yoga for over eight years, beginning right here in Charlottesville while she was an undergrad at UVA. She moved to New York City after graduation, where she was practicing daily to keep her centered amidst the chaos of a busy city and intense job. After four years there, she is back in Cville for business school and to share the transformational power of yoga. Jennifer graduated from the FlyDog Yoga 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program in 2017. She is inspired by Eliza Whiteman, MaryAnn McIvor, Francesca Bove and Taryn Toomey. Jennifer teaches an energetic Power sequence and a creative Vinyasa flow, both are light-hearted and yet empowering. Come to sweat, laugh, take care of yourself, make a new friend, and see how it inspires you to live off the mat.

Claire Newman

Claire is currently getting her masters in exercise physiology. She noticed her life missed the balance between effort and ease and discovered Power Vinyasa as the perfect work out to find equanimity. Her main influences are Baron Baptist, Shelley Lowther, Libby Ramsey, Eliza Whiteman, and Jess Norby. She completed her 200 yoga certification at Dancing Dogs in Greensboro, NC. As a teacher, she is committed to joy, passion, and most importantly, fun!

Amalia Oswald

Amalia Oswald is a Virginia native with a widespread movement background including yoga, dance, and various theatre movement techniques. She is a trained children's yoga teacher from ChildLight Yoga and a trained aerial yoga teacher from AirCat Aerial. She strives to approach her mat with humility, joy, strength, and playfulness to promote being a positive individual in her community.
