Jess Norby

Jess has been practicing yoga for about eight years. She will complete her 200-hour Vinyasa Teacher Training through FlyDog Yoga in August 2015. Her inspirations include Eliza Whiteman, Holly Wade, and her Teacher Training peers. As a full-time certified personal trainer through ACSM, she uses her knowledge of the human body to teach and embody the importance of core strength, stability, and alignment. She believes that challenging the body is an important way to find and build strength - whether it's in her yoga classes or on the fitness floor.
During a heated vinyasa practice, students can expect to embrace working hard, getting a little (or very) sweaty, and breathing together on the mat; all for that final relaxation: Savasana!
 

Shannon Burns

Shannon Burns, a double WAHOO, has lived in Charlottesville for 20+ years. She has practiced yoga for over 10 years, and completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training through FlyDog Yoga in March 2016.
 
As a Nurse Practitioner, she uses her care, knowledge and understanding of the human body to bring calmness and strength to the body through support and empowerment.
 
During a Power Vinyasa class, Shannon hopes to motivate students to gain confidence, knowledge, and connect to the mind & body in a kind hearted and nonjudgemental way. Shannon discovered the benefits of yoga practice during a crazy, yet exciting stage of parenting and life. After years of running half marathons and being a gym rat, she decided to see what would happen if she took 25 classes in 30 days at FlyDog, and has never looked back- HOOKED. Yoga continues to bring balance into Shannon’s life, and she hopes to help you discover all of your possibilities in one of her classes!

Carly Dirghangi

After having been an educator and a yoga practitioner for ten years, Carly Nicholson is now bringing these two together as a yoga teacher, designing and teaching experiences on the mat that will leave you with meaning and purpose.
 
As a cancer survivor, Carly was inspired by the several teachers, such as Eliza Whiteman, who welcomed her and whatever she could offer on her mat throughout treatment, in practice towards healing. Now Carly teaches classes with the same individualized welcome and attention, using music, rhythm, and breath as a quickening tool for building community. Carly is an RYT-200 and has also completed the Teen Yoga Teacher Training Intensive with Karma Kids Yoga. Carly teaches Power Vinyasa, Heated Vinyasa, and Teen Yoga.
 
Carly strives to be an old person one day, one who smiles back at the play, laughter, and spirited appreciation of this body she found through yoga. In teaching, she simultaneously receives and offers up the perspective of survivor, the perspective of yogi, and this life we lead when we get to meet on our mats.

Eliza Whiteman

Eliza is the co-founder and director at FlyDog Yoga. She is a Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa teacher and is en route to complete her 500-hr certification in 2017.  Eliza is the lead teacher for her Power Vinyasa Teacher Training and  she also has certifications in Aerial Yoga, Yoga & Weights, Prenatal Yoga and Children's Yoga. Some of Eliza's favorite teachers that she has trained under include: Baron Baptiste, Kathryn Budig, Rolf Gates, Ray Long and Ana Forrest.

You should expect a creative, fun, athletic style that will get your blood flowing and make you sweat but at the same time tap into your potential- get inspired, be empowered and have fun! Every body is welcome, you can always modify poses and flows to fit you.
Yoga is not about perfection- it is about progress. 
 

Jamie Morgan

Jamie has been teaching Vinyasa Yoga since 2014 and practicing yoga for over 11 years with a consistent practice starting in 2013. Her inspirations include fellow teacher trainers, Stephanie Jesteadt, Eliza Whiteman, Kathryn Budig, and Gina Camputo. Jamie graduated from FlyDog Yoga 200-hour Vinyasa Teacher Training in March 2016. Jamie is a full time Registered Dietitian with Veterans Affairs and she also organizes local nutrition challenges and nutrition related workshops and speaking engagements. Jamie is certified in Indo-Board Yoga through YogaFit and she completed over 100 hours of training under YogaFit trainers. You can expect a heated fast paced, fun, and athletic class that will leave you feeling strong, confident, and sweaty. Jamie loves to teach whether it is nutrition or yoga and she hopes to share her love of healthy living with you on and off the mat.

Ashleigh Owens

Ashleigh Owens, Charlottesville native and UVA alumna, has been practicing yoga since 2005. Her practice has evolved from a hobby to an integral part of her daily life which keeps her centered and sane! In following her passion, Ashleigh graduated from FlyDog Yoga's 200- hour Power Vinyasa teacher training program. Ashleigh has subsequently completed Baptiste Power Yoga Level 1, Aerial Yoga teacher training with Spark Yoga in Arlington, VA, Core Barre training from Charlotte, NC and Power Barre training from Lynchburg, VA.

Ashleigh teaches a vigorous Power Vinyasa class focused on strength and flexibility, using breath and creative sequencing to make the experience both fun & challenging. Ashleigh’s barre classes are upbeat – come strengthen and tone your body with a fusion of Pilates, barre conditioning and functional movements. Aerial yoga classes teach students how to use the aerial hammock to support and liberate the body—complementing a new or seasoned yogi’s practice. Ashleigh uses a variety of music and a no-frills approach that will both motivate you and keep you coming back for more!

Vanessa Schnable

Vanessa teaches yoga to help her students gain more body awareness and push them outside of their comfort zones. She has been practicing for nearly 8 years and has used it as a cross training tool in conjunction with spin, kettlebells, running and more. Her classes are athletic, light-hearted, core focused and a balance of grace and strength that will last even off the mat. She is a Charlottesville native, a UVA grad, and lover of all things local.
 

Anne Kuehler

When Anne finally took a yoga class to help heal after a car accident, she was amazed at how good she felt afterwards. She was hooked from the first, flowy, mindful class. Her classes are inspired by the belief that yoga can heal and strengthen the body both physically and emotionally.
 
Anne teaches all levels of Vinyasa. Her classes are a Fun, creative Flow that will both challenge and inspire you. Come ready to work hard, sweat, breathe deep, and leave empowered. In her classes, you will work through invigorating sequences set to an eclectic mix of tunes, allowing you to grow, stretch, and reflect. Anne has her 200 Yoga certification from FlyDog Yoga. Her main influences are Eliza Whiteman, Mary Ann McIvor, Baron Baptiste, Rolf Gates, and Kerri Verna.

Adam Quesenberry

Adam had been practicing yoga for three years before deciding to take FlyDog Yoga’s 200 hr Power Vinyasa Teacher Training. He is an RYT 200 with the Yoga Alliance. Adam finds motivation in his fellow students of yoga. Some of Adam’s inspirations include Baron Baptiste, Eliza Whiteman, Mary Ann Mclvor, and Patrick Gibson. Adam teaches heated Power Vinyasa with fast paced transitions and strength building static postures.

Jennifer Csapo

Jennifer found her passion for yoga as an undergraduate student at James Madison University. What started as a primarily asana practice became a pathway to healing and self love. She practiced under mentors Keala Mason and Amanda Saccone while working for JMU's group fitness program. Her other inspirations include Eliza Whiteman, Mary Ann McIvor, Kathryn Budig and Amy Ippoliti. She graduated from Fly Dog Yoga's 200 hour training in 2016. Inspired by creative sequencing and humor in her practice, expect to sweat, laugh, and work hard in Jennifer's vinyasa and power classes.
Power Vinyasa ALL LEVELS. This dynamic, energizing and challenging style of yoga links breath and movement through a basic Power Yoga framework combining sun salutations, standing postures and floor work but each teacher brings their own creative touch. The smooth, continuous flow deepens the breath, develops core strength, increases endurance and challenges balance and flexibility. You will leave these classes with a renewed mental and physical energy. The room is heated between 85 and 90 degrees.
