Shannon Burns

Shannon Burns, a double WAHOO, has lived in Charlottesville for 20+ years. She has practiced yoga for over 10 years, and completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training through FlyDog Yoga in March 2016.
 
As a Nurse Practitioner, she uses her care, knowledge and understanding of the human body to bring calmness and strength to the body through support and empowerment.
 
During a Power Vinyasa class, Shannon hopes to motivate students to gain confidence, knowledge, and connect to the mind & body in a kind hearted and nonjudgemental way. Shannon discovered the benefits of yoga practice during a crazy, yet exciting stage of parenting and life. After years of running half marathons and being a gym rat, she decided to see what would happen if she took 25 classes in 30 days at FlyDog, and has never looked back- HOOKED. Yoga continues to bring balance into Shannon’s life, and she hopes to help you discover all of your possibilities in one of her classes!

Amy Ackerman

To no surprise, the first class Amy took with FlyDog was a barre class back in January of 2017. From there, Amy started taking a variety of classes and soon realized that this was a community she wanted to be more a part of. She jumped at the idea of attending FlyDog Yoga’s Barre Teacher Training and teaching at FlyDog. Amy looks forward to providing fun and upbeat classes that encourage any and all people to try barre, take barre or become a barre regular!

MaryAnn McIvor

MaryAnn took her first ashtanga class in 2009 and fell in love with what quickly became a physically healing and mentally calming practice. In 2012, she graduated from Charlottesville Yoga School and began teaching. She's thankful for the large yoga community in our little town, and very grateful to have had workshop opportunities with Tim Miller, Andrew Eppler, David Keil, Kino MacGregor, Richard Freeman, and Kathryn Budig.
MaryAnn is also FlyDog's Lead Barre Teacher and is in the process of getting her 500 hour Vinyasa certification from Om On Yoga in Richmond.
Her creatively sequenced vinyasa classes have a strong focus on alignment and overall strength, offering something new and different to both beginners and seasoned practitioners.

Caroline Oldfield

Caroline started practicing yoga and barre about four years ago in an effort to bring more reflection and variety to her exercise routine, and has loved finding new challenges in both ever since. She was so delighted to discover FlyDog when she joined the Charlottesville community last year, she decided to approach another level of practice and complete her barre teacher training through the studio. Caroline is enthusiastic about engaging her classes in a challenging variety of sequences. Expect a playful, fresh approach and fun music to shake to!

Jennifer Kennedy

Upon moving to Charlottesville in 2013 Jenn took Eliza's class by accident and instantly knew her practice would transform.
She found her 'home' with Flydog and completed 200-hr YTT with Eliza Whiteman.  Jennifer also has her FDY Barre Certification as well as Aerial Level 1 & 2 Certifications from Aircat Aerial Arts.
Jennifer is the Lead Aerial Teacher at FlyDog Yoga. Her passion for teaching Aerial stems from 'stepping outside of your comfort zone'- she was hooked first flip!
Every class is taught with the intention of creating a playful yet informative experience, she likes to focus on building strength, body-breath awareness, and proper technique. She lives for the look on a students face when they achieve a skill - Priceless!
Expect to sweat and expect to shake! FlyDog barre classes incorporate yoga, Pilates, and ballet influenced movements and exercises to strengthen and tone, creating long, lean muscles. A barre practice is a great complement to an existing yoga practice, as it helps build strength, focus, and confidence! Come prepared to work and have fun!
 
The room is heated between 75-80 degrees. All equipment provided. No mat, shoes, or socks necessary. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to class.
