Our Classes at FlyDog Yoga

Vinyasa is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” In other words, you move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This technique is sometimes also called Vinyasa Flow, or just Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance.  At FlyDog Yoga, we offer the most dynamic Power Vinyasa classes in the area.  These classes will challenge you and leave you with a renewed mental and physical energy.  We also offer a healthy complement of Heated Vinyasa classes that will help to develop physical and mental strength and will lead to a gradual physical and mental opening.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM VINYASA CLASSES

This style allows for a lot of variety, but will almost certainly include the Sun Salutations or some form of them. The first half of class gets the circulation of the blood going, allowing you to sweat and release the toxins and stagnant energy you have been holding onto. Sometimes there is more of a flow to class and sometimes you will hold poses or asanas to really open that part of the body up. The last part of class consists of floor postures to continue to stretch and open your legs, hips and back. Classes will always end with Savasana or a final resting pose for the last few minutes of class to allow you to relax and quiet your mind.

Power Vinyasa (Heated)a

Power Vinyasa ALL LEVELS. This dynamic, energizing and challenging style of yoga links breath and movement through a basic Power Yoga framework combining sun salutations, standing postures and floor work but each teacher brings their own creative touch. The smooth, continuous flow deepens the breath, develops core strength, increases endurance and challenges balance and flexibility. You will leave these classes with a renewed mental and physical energy. The room is heated between 85 and 90 degrees.

Heated Vinyasaa

Heated Vinyasa ALL LEVELS. This can be a moderate to high intensity class which links breath to movement to get the heart rate up and to work the student toward a peak pose or sequence through balance, innovation, and technique. Vinyasa Flow will help to develop physical and mental strength and will lead a gradual physical and mental opening. Sequencing will vary with instructor. The room is heated between 80 and 85 degrees.

Yin

A yin yoga practice sequences longer holds in quiet stillness with an intention to relax the muscles, opening the flow of energy through the deeper connective tissue, releasing broader range of motion in the joints of the body. Promoting a meditative awareness of breath and energy, this calm practice reveals acceptance within the present condition of the physical, emotional, and conscious layers of our being. This is an approachable class for beginners, athletes, and suitable for all backgrounds of yoga experience.

Aerial Yoga Restorative

The perfect class to unwind and renew passion in your practice and daily life. Restorative aerial yoga is a wonderful introduction to anyone new to the art of aerial yoga practice, but is also an incredible opportunity for anyone seeking deep release and relaxation. Unlike a regular aerial class that places the hammock about hip height, restorative aerials places the hammock less than12 inches off the ground, allowing practitioners to use the floor and low hammock for greater support and deeper relief of tension in key areas, such as the hips, shoulders, and low back. This innovative practice is intentionally designed with a very slow flow, consisting of 4-6 poses held in extremely supported postures for longer holds. The extended time per posture allow the instructor to personalize the practice to each student, assisting them in use of the props, adjustment of body position, and gentle massage to encourage total relaxation Aside from the swing, blocks and bolsters are used to increase the ability of students to find gradual opening without strain. The class is structured to offer guided meditation and soft breathing techniques that will both boost the immune system and quiet the nervous system to reduce stress in the body, mind, and spirit.
